Like to Bark

Because of their domineering personality and history in vermin hunting, yorkies like to be quite vocal.

Energetic

Yorkies have a highly playful personality and do well with toys and exercise.

History

Yorkshire terriers first began in Victorian England. Skilled at hunting small rodents, yorkies were preferred helpers on farms and in mine shafts. Getting smaller throughout the ages, yorkies have become a leading breed in dog shows. Though it's not uncommon to see a yorkie as a pet in current times. They're very affectionate and get attached to their owners very quickly. This breed can be stubborn to train and can be very determined and persistant.

Care and Upkeep

Yorkies are hypoallergenic and aren't prone to shedding. Their hair does get quite long... while perfect for strutting the runway of a dog show, not so perfect for ordinaty life. Grooming is a must, which could lead to increased expense. Due to their energetic nature, owners will have to provide ways for their companion to work themselves, whether going for walks, which yorkies love, or playing with toys.
